Cemetery Service Representative

Reports To: Cemetery Manager

 

Job Summary

A Cemetery Representative assists families in making preneed and at need burial and memorial arrangements, maintains accurate records of interments, and supports the respectful operation of cemetery services. This role requires strong customer service skills, compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to guide families through sensitive end-of-life planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with families to discuss burial, cremation, and memorialization options.
  • Coordinate interment and entombment services, including scheduling and preparation.
  • Maintain accurate cemetery records, plot ownership, and burial documentation.
  • Process contracts, permits, and payments for cemetery services and property.
  • Provide tours of cemetery grounds and available plots to prospective clients.
  • Coordinate with funeral homes, clergy, and cemetery staff for services.
  • Ensure compliance with cemetery regulations.
  • Maintain a respectful and professional environment for visitors.
  • Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries from families.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in customer service, sales, and administrative support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations with empathy.
  • Basic computer skills (record systems, Microsoft Office, scheduling software).
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in funeral home or cemetery operations.
  • Knowledge of burial regulations and documentation.
  • Sales experience in memorial or cemetery property.

 

Work Environment

  • Combination of office work and outdoor cemetery grounds.
  • Occasional weekend or evening availability for services or appointments.
  • Interaction with grieving families and community members.

Compensation range for this position is: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour.

This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
