Archdiocese of New York

Treasury Office

Director of Treasury & Cash Management

Overview/Purpose
The Director of Treasury & Cash Management will assist the Head of Treasury in managing the daily, monthly, and annual financial operations of organizations supported by the Treasury Operations team. This role supports the organization's day-to-day treasury and cash operations while leading several automation and modernization projects. This is a deliberately hybrid role: core treasury execution — forecasting, reconciliation, and cash application — and the automation of processes while migrating to a new ERP. All responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with the religious, moral, and ethical principles of the Catholic Church.

Reports to:  Head of Treasury

Work Location: 488 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily cash positioning and liquidity management across multiple programs and funding sources, ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet operating and strategic obligations
  • Prepare and analyze short- and long-term cash-flow forecasts to support financial planning and executive decision-making.
  • Optimize the use of banking services and platforms, administer user access and controls, and serve as the primary contact for banking partners.
  • Lead treasury workstreams related to the migration from the legacy ERP to Workday, including transitioning to the treasury management module, redesigning workflows, strengthening controls, and establishing connectivity with banking and third-party platforms.
  • Automate recurring manual workflows currently handled through spreadsheets or manual data entry
  • Partner with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to streamline cash-related processes and ensure efficient daily operations; coordinate treasury reporting and planning with FP&A and Parish Finance teams.
  • Supervise, develop, and lead treasury staff, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and effective coverage of critical treasury activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools that improve visibility into liquidity, cash performance, banking activity, and treasury risk
  • Support the Head of Treasury with liquidity strategy, bank account structure, treasury policies, internal controls, and ad hoc financial analysis

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in treasury, cash management, accounting, financial operations, or a comparable analytical finance role
  • At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience in a treasury or finance environment.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency: complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, structured data models, and building workbooks intended for repeated use by others
  • Strong written communication and the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical finance stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and comfort owning daily deadline-driven deliverables
  • A learning mindset and adaptability — this role sits at the intersection of finance and fast-moving technology, and the tools, systems, and priorities will change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with treasury management systems, Workday, Odoo, or with ERP implementation, configuration, or data migration generally
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems and their reporting and integration capabilities
  • Familiarity with banking portals, payment file formats (ACH/NACHA, wire, lockbox), or bank reporting standards
  • Exposure to SQL, Python and AI-based automations
