Overview

The Religious Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and administrating the parish Religious Education Program for Children in grades k-12. This position supports the faith formation of young disciples by organizing sacramental preparation, coordinating catechists and volunteers, maintaining student records, and ensuring a welcoming and faith-filled learning environment rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church.

 

Responsibilities of the Religious Education Coordinator

  • Organize sacramental preparation programs for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support catechists and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, sacramental, and registration records.
  • Communicate with parents regarding schedules, requirements, and parish events.
  • Assist in planning retreats, special liturgies, family events, and faith formation activities.
  • Ensure classrooms and educational materials are prepared and organized.
  • Collaborate with parish staff and clergy to support parish ministry goals.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies and Safe environment requirements.
  • Answer phone calls directed to the office, messages and e-mails.

 

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with knowledge of Catholic teachings and traditions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience working with children, families, or in parish ministry preferred.
  • Passion for working with youth and their families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
  • Basic computer and administrative skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Familiarity with the Archdiocese's Archlab.
  • Certified in level 1 , 2, and/or 3 Catechist of the Good Shepherd preferred (or willing to take the training).

 

Work Environment

This position works closely with parish staff, catechists, parents, and volunteers to foster a welcoming and faith-centered Religious Education Program for the Parish Community;

 

Compensation range for this position is: $60.44 - $65.94 per hour.

This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
