Jahzeela Aguilar Gamboa and her family arrived in New York seven months ago from their native Peru as asylum seekers and in search of a better future. Today,she has her own home and works as a volunteer at the Catholic Charities satellite office in St. Teresa Parish, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
