In her children's book for all ages, author Deanna Danielle tells the story of "a shepherd and his sheep" from the perspective of a member of the flock.
"To share the love of God in such a way that in sharing Sheli through the shepherd and the sheep how sometimes we wonder why things happen to us," is how Danielle described her intent in writing the book, in a telephone interview with The Good Newsroom.
In Danielle's third self-published book, the title character is a sheep who finds herself placed at the back of her flock. Although she misses the voice and scent of her shepherd, Sheli soon realizes why he has given her this position.
"Sometimes we are broken and God is with us in our brokenness," Danielle said. "We keep praying and we know God is there. No matter what, God has a greater plan for us."
Each page features a passage from scripture, mostly Psalms, but also one or two from the New Testament.
Alongside Danielle's story are illustrations by Rosanne Kaloustian, a fine artist and illustrator who is a lifetime member of the Art Students League and the Graphic Artists Guild.
Danielle, who lives in Eastchester, works as a hairstylist when not focused on books and screenplays relating to her faith.
"My greatest joy is to share God’s love. In writing Sheli, in sharing Sheli, I just want it to be for all," she said.
