Receptionist
Overview/Purpose:
The receptionist is responsible for receiving and directing visitors to the Tribunal as well as assisting with a variety of clerical/administrative functions on an as-needed basis.
Reports to: Head of the Tribunal Chancery
Work Location: 201 Seminary Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional atmosphere at all times in the Tribunal reception area.
- Receive visitors, secure all cell phones, and apprise the correct Tribunal staff of their arrival.
- Answer telephone inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate Tribunal staff member.
- Transcribe cases as needed in accordance with Tribunal procedures.
- Maintain the office supply room and order supplies as needed.
- Scan all petitions that are submitted to the Tribunal.
- Make copies of special, confidential cases for the Judicial Vicar.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Moderator of the Tribunal Chancery.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Knowledge of, and firm commitment to, the teachings of the Church regarding marriage.
- A firm commitment to the administration of justice with charity in the Church.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the canon law that is relevant to the work of the Tribunal.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to transcribe recorded testimony, or willingness to learn this skill.
- A courteous manner and sensitivity to the needs of those who approach the Tribunal.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist others in the office.
- Fluency in Spanish is a must.
Compensation range for this position is: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.
This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
