Jesus in Zion at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a special Lenten praise and worship gathering, is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Organizers of the Jesus in Zion Ministry said the event will feature lively praise and worship music; intercessory prayer teams; Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament; Adoration; and a benediction. Priests will also be available for confessions, “along with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the joy of the Lord!”
In the Old Testament, Zion is the chosen place where God desired to dwell, and where He would invite all the tribes and nations to go up to praise the God of Israel, coordinators noted, adding that Christ is “the fullness of the revelation of the God of Israel and to Him belongs all praise and honor and glory forever and ever.”
Father Vincent Druding, ministry leader and parochial vicar at Holy Cross Church in the Bronx, said, “At Jesus in Zion, we seek to love God through praising and worshiping the Lord with all our hearts and souls, and minds and strength, and to love one another as Jesus has loved us. We begin with lively praise and worship set to live music, as ‘He who sings prays twice,’ as St. Augustine affirmed. And we lift our hearts and our arms in praise as St. Paul urged us, ‘Glorify God with your bodies!’”
The intercessory prayer teams will pray over those wishing to receive an individual healing prayer. Jesus in Zion at St. Patrick’s Cathedral is being planned by staff and volunteers of Holy Cross Church, led by Father Druding. The parish hosted a 43-day Jesus in Zion perpetual adoration during Lent last year, which featured evening praise and worship events. For more information, please call (929) 925-4724.
