University of North Carolina future prospect Ian Jackson accounted for almost half of his team's points as Cardinal Hayes High School defeated Archbishop Stepinac High School on its home court, as Hayes won 74-68.
The Westchester school was hoping to avoid Valentine's heartbreak after losing 44-42 to Iona Prep on Saturday. But shooting guard Jackson's 35 points were too much to overcome, as Hayes pulled away in the third quarter and never looked back.
Stepinac standout Boogie Fland scored 27 points with four rebounds and two steals. Ben Lyttle added 14 points with 10 rebounds and two steals, and Danny Carbuccia had 11 points and two steals.
The two teams split their series this season, with Stepinac winning at Hayes in their first meeting in December.
Jackson announced earlier in February that he was committing to play for the University of North Carolina upon graduation from Hayes next year.
Stepinac's Fland has yet to commit, although Syracuse University is believed to be pursuing the point guard fervently.
Stepinac next takes on Mount St. Michael Academy on Sunday, February 19 at 3 pm, at St. Raymond High School for Boys.
