Thousands of high school and middle school students are expected to attend New York Catholic Youth Day, set for April 27-28, 2024, at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers.

The two, single-day events are designed to allow students to have "an encounter with Christ and an evangelization of the Church," Christina Davis, director of youth ministry at the Youth Faith Formation Office of the Archdiocese of New York.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan will celebrate Mass on Saturday, April 27, for the high school participants. Archdiocese of New York Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Espaillat, and musician and motivational speaker Joe Melendrez will give keynote presentations. Also attending will be Sister Elfie Del Rosario, FMA, also known as “The Happy Nun."

Both days will feature service projects, including Rise Against Hunger and the making of rosaries for mission efforts.

This marks the 11th year of the event will be held for high schoolers, and the second for middle school students, Davis said.

Registration is now open for both days. Some financial assistance is available. Both the registration and financial assistance deadlines are April 5.
