Join us as we celebrate the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, a special observance established by Pope Francis to honor the invaluable presence, wisdom, and witness of grandparents and older adults in our families, Church, and communities.
The Holy Father's theme for 2026, "I will never forget you" (cf. Isaiah 49:15), reminds us that God's faithful love never fades. Even amid the challenges of aging, the Lord knows each of us by name, never forgets us, and continues to accompany us with unwavering love and mercy.
In the United States, the celebration will be observed on September 12–13, 2026, aligning with National Grandparents (and the Elderly) Day. We invite grandparents, older adults, families, and parishioners of all ages to join us in prayer and thanksgiving as we honor the gift of our elders and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring they remain cherished, connected, and supported within our parish community.
During this time, the Church in the United States also observes Natural Family Planning Awareness Week in July, highlighting the beauty of God's design for marriage, family life, and responsible parenthood.
