The Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program is currently inviting members of the Archdiocese to volunteer their professional experience in leading training sessions on child sexual abuse.
Volunteers with teaching or presenting experience would train to become certified educators on awareness and prevention of sexual abuse. They would then present at local or regional sessions to employees and volunteers who work with children in Archdiocesan parishes and programs.
All applicants will be thoroughly screened, including a comprehensive criminal background check, as part of the qualification process Volunteers must possess a strong commitment and personal fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Candidates must be over 18 years of age, computer literate, and fluent in English. Fluency in a second language used in the Archdiocese is a definite plus (especially Spanish).
Candidates will also be required to provide personal and professional references and make time commitments for the program. A comprehensive training program is required, and after they are certified, trainers will continue with Internet-accessible bulletins and on-line re-certification courses.
