Office of Youth Ministry

The Office of Youth Ministry officially opened in January 2012 to take care of the “crying need” of the Youth and Young adults of the Archdiocese of New York.

We support schools, parishes and Church leaders in their mission to prepare youth and young adults to hear and respond to the call of Jesus Christ. We focus on high school age students up until the college level (ages 13-21). Our mission is to inculcate in our youth the awareness that they belong not only to a “universal” Church but also to a parish that needs their involvement and commitment.

We offer training, formation, networking, support, consulting, and events for youth and young leaders.

We collaborate with all of the other youth initiatives within the archdiocese which include, but are not limited to the Vocations Office, University Apostolate, Young Adult Leaders, Retreat Programs, the Catechetical Office, C.Y.O. and the Superintendent of Schools, etc.

Message from His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to All of the Youth on the 27th World Youth Day:

“Be enthusiastic witnesses of the new evangelization! Go to those who are suffering and those who are searching, and give them the joy that Jesus wants to bestow. Bring it to your families, your schools and universities, and your workplaces and your friends, wherever you live. You will see how it is contagious. You will receive a hundredfold: the joy of salvation for yourselves, and the joy of seeing God’s mercy at work in the hearts of others. And when you go to meet the Lord on that last day, you will hear him say: “Well done, my good and faithful servant... Come, share your master’s joy” (Mt 25:21).
