Papal Visit to the World Trade Center Site
The Archdiocese of New York is organizing a small group of family members of those who died on September 11th to participate in the private visit of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI to the World Trade Center Site on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Family representatives will be selected by lottery. Due to the solemnity of the visit and for security reasons, the number of participants will be extremely limited. However, we are pleased to note that the Holy Father's visit will be televised.
Recommendations for family representatives to be among those participating in this Apostolic event were accepted until 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2008. More than 1,100 entries were received.
Participants will be selected by lottery and notified directly by the Archdiocese of New York, which will also provide details on the ceremony. Notifications will occur in early April. We thank you for your assistance and cooperation as we continue to prepare for the visit of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI in April.
