Tax and Legislative Issues

State Lawmakers Owe Religious and Independent Schools Approximately $243 Million Dollars in Delayed Reimbursement for State Imposed Mandates, Including the MTA Payroll Tax.

Parent rallies / legislative forums have been planned throughout the Archdiocese to protest the new MTA Tax and the delay in reimbursement for mandated services our schools provided dating back to the 2002-2003 school year. Given the very serious fiscal situation in Albany, it is critical that every elementary and high school participate in the local rallies. Please make an effort to inform parents and students about the importance of attending these events. If we stand together in support of Catholic schools, our voices will be heard.
